WHAT YOU SHOULD DO BEFORE ASUU CALLS OFF STRIKE

Dear Nigerian students with news and rumors of ASUU about to call of the strike, it’s wise if you put into consideration what I am about to say.

Not following what I am about to say might result in series of problems when school resume.

1) Gather all your documents: Your document is what makes you an undergraduate, without your documents your admission might be doubted. It’s been over six months ASUU embarked on strike, there is a big chance you don’t know where your documents are.

Start now to gather them, take your time to turn every page of every book looking for it. One thing about this document is, the are best looked for without pressure. While under pressure of going back, you might not find them.

So start gathering them, identify each one and make sure they are safe and in a place you won’t forget. If you’ve swept off your own, or can’t find a particular one, write it down. First thing when you arrive school go and print it.

2) Gather your belongings: Start gathering your bucket, slippers, plate, books, hanger etic put them in one place, so you will be able to locate it when it’s time to go to school.

3) Wash your clothes: Once ASUU calls of strike academic activities would be rushed, you might not have the time to wash and wait a day or two for your clothes to dry before coming back? You have to be ready, so that once the strike is called off, you go back immediately. Wash, dry and iron your clothes now.

4) Write your list and submit: Your parents might be like, "but the strike hasn't been called off yet". Base on experience, and our normal Africa culture, list takes two or more days for approval not including going to market.

Buying foodstuff from school this period is not a wise decision because price of commodities will skyrocket, it’s best if you buy them at home. So write your list, give it to your parents they should go through it and have the money ready so that just In case the strike is called off, they can settle you early.

5) Start reading: 😂😂😂 e go hot my brother and sister. Academic activities was paused for over 6 months, resuming now everything will be fast-forward. The academic and university management expect you to read now for the exam that is to come.

Don’t be surprised when the next week the strike is called off is exam. After all, we’ve spent so much time at home, so start reading now. Wake your brain up, get your books ready, browse through it, refresh. Your brain has been at rest for a long time, wake it up, so you won’t be struggling when school resume.

6) Call your friends and Ginger them: Some of your friends might be depending on you for malpractice or otherwise. Call them now, tell them to get ready.

7) Have a reading timetable: It’s best if you start planning yourself now by drafting a reading timetable. Your primary reason of going to the university is to get knowledge in a particular field.

No interviewer will understand that there was strike which is what sent your brain to coma, In fact the lecturer marking your script won’t even understand this because they expect you to read. Draft a timetable now that covers your courses, allocate more time to difficult subjects.

8) Buy a standard torch: The day won’t be enough to cover up, especially when we know most of us didn’t read during the strike. Buy a torch that can last at least three hours.

Things you should expect:

Expect these things, so you won’t be surprised when you see it.

1) University exam standard is not changing: Don’t think because of the strike, lectures will set cheap question. Please don’t think so to avoid shock, read with the mindset that this exam will be more difficult to consider the fact you haven’t read fit over 5 months.

2) Sorting will increase: This shouldn’t come as a surprise, lectures has been at home for over 5 months. Students who are not sure of their academic stand will sort, don’t be surprise.

3) Less attention will be given to trivial things: Your friends might not be joking or playing around that much, focus will be on academics. Don’t think they hate you, come on 6 months isn’t it enough time to play.?

4) Price of commodities will increase: Of course you should know this, even if the price don’t increase in the market, the retailers will try to cover up their loss for the past 6 months. I am sure they are part of those praying and fasting for this strike to be called off😂

Pro advice, Avoid Procrastination!

In all dear Nigerian students I wish you the best, find a serious reading group and join. The fact is you won’t be as smart as before, reason is you’ve not been reading, so to get back to that level you have to double your reading culture. See the night as an advantage, don’t stress yourself too much during the day to enable you read at night.

Cheers to success 🥂
